Get Involved

Coming along to one of our events is a great way to find out more about the Garden and how you can get involved. You can also get in touch to schedule a first-time visit to the Garden with Mairead, (mairead [at] forestfarmpeacegarden.org, 07587 244459) on a Wednesday or Friday. We aim to work with a broad cross-section of the local community to promote mental and physical health, social inclusion, intercultural awareness, and environmental sustainability. There are many ongoing projects in the Garden- growing organic vegetables, caring for fruit and berry trees, working with our beehives, tending the herb garden and organising workshops and events that welcome and share skills with the community. We are a volunteer led organisation, and aim to provide our volunteers with useful skills, positive experiences and a friendly community- please get in touch with Mairead to find out how you can get involved.

Through volunteering with FFPG you can:

  • Grow your own fruit and vegetables using available tools and seeds
  • Improve your health with exercise and fresh foods
  • Meet new people
  • Share your knowledge and learn new skills
  • Help improve the environment through organic gardening and conservation
  • Be part of a supportive and diverse community

In exceptional circumstances, we may be able to assist with travel expenses.

Volunteering in the Peace Garden

There are currently opportunities for everyone who wishes to help in The Garden, regardless of ability or experience.

Gardeners needed:

There are currently opportunities for everyone who wishes to help in The Garden, regardless of ability or experience: it is only important that our volunteers enjoy working outside.

We are currently enjoying a period of growth and while we would be especially pleased to hear from experienced gardeners, and also those who may wish to offer their time in The Garden in a supportive role, our main focus continues to be to get as many interested people involved as possible, so whether you have experience or are a complete beginner we want you to join us!

 Events organisers:

If you prefer, please consider volunteering as an events organiser. We hold open days and workshops and are very happy to involve volunteers in this aspect of our work.

Becoming a Trustee:

Our Trustees are a team of committed volunteers.  In order to expand the work that we do we are looking for committed volunteers. If you have skills that you wish to share in this field, please get in touch.

If you are interested in volunteering please contact us.

World Music Day, 17th June – help plan our Refugee Week event!

We are in the process of organising a World Music Day to celebrate Refugee Week in June. World Music Day will be a cultural celebration of the diversity in northeast London, and we’d love for you to get involved! The event is on Sunday 17th June, but in the weeks beforehand we need people to help with planning, and publicity. Get in touch with natalie [at] forestfarmpeacegarden.orgto find out more about volunteering opportunities.

Orchard Skills Organising Committee – January 2012

In order to organise the exciting Orchard Skills project, we need volunteers to help out to plan it and make it happen. You don’t need to know anything about trees- as long as you like them! We need all sorts of input- design and web skills, outreach and publicity, working with schools to organise tree planting activities, running the open days and workshops… but most importantly enthusiasm and commitment. Get in touch with Natalie, the Project Coordinator (natalie [at] forestfarmpeacegarden.org), to find out about getting involved in the Orchard Skills working group.

    Hi,

My name is Alex and I am bee keeper (hobby) but have sme honey I would like to sell in support of events such as this. I am based in New Malden which is SW London.

How can I get engaged and what are the T&C’s please?

    • Hi Alex-
That sounds great. We currently work with East London Honey and have an apiary on site. It would be ideal if you came to visit the site at some point- the Open Day on 11th March would be an ideal time to see the site and get a sense of what we do. How much honey do you usually produce?

Let me know whether you want more info about the Open Day. We’ll hopefully have a stand specifically about the importance of bees and bee-friendly planting at the event, so it would be really great if you could come along.

      Natalie
