Upcoming Workshops at FFPG

We’ve some exciting workshops coming up this month in the garden.

Firstly we have our resident herbalist Debbie Syrett with a session on fermenting vegetables this coming Sunday the 14th September (apologies for the moderately late notice – some recent staffing issues have meant that our normal highly punctual news updates have been set back a touch. Never mind, we’re here now!). There’s a fee of £12 for this one because Debbie is providing the ingredients. However, compare that cost to how much fermented veg can cost in the (frankly, quite posh) shops, and it’s a veritable bargain! See below for details including some materials you will definitely need to bring with.

Next up is Aaron “Hedgerow” Edgeley with one of his foraging courses on Sunday the 28th September. Some of you may recognise Aaron from the numerous appearances he has made at previous FFPG workshops and open days. What Aaron doesn’t know about foraging is remarkably small and he has assured me he will lay off clunky latin botanical names of plants apart from when in the company of similarly-minded plant nerds who are well up for that sort of thing (I include myself among them – Ben). The cost for this one is £18 and includes an accredited certificate through Global Learning Gateway.


A PRACTICAL BEGINNERS WORKSHOP MAKING FERMENTED (CULTURED) VEGETABLES

Come and have fun making your own pot of fermented vegetables to take home
and learn why they are such powerful healing foods.

5 minute’s walk from Hainault underground station on the Central Line (limited free parking)

You need to bring with you:
1. A 1 Pint Kilner Jar (no bigger please)
2. A Grater and/or Sharp Vegetable Knife
3. An Apron (be prepared to get messy!)
4. A picnic lunch

I will provide:
1. Organic Vegetables
2. Salt
3. Water
4.  Herb teas

AN INTRODUCTION TO WILD FOOD & FORAGING (Autumn Session)

Join us for a mini foraging course run by Aaron “Hedgerow” Edgeley, an ethnobotanist with over 25 years experience of wild food and foraging. We will make lunch from the plants we forage!

If you have ever:

* Wondered how to get more out of a walk in the woods
* Wondered if something you’ve found is safe to eat
* Wanted to get an exciting and healthy diet for free
* Wanted to connect with nature in a very personal and creative way

THIS IS THE COURSE FOR YOU!

You will learn how to:
* Forage safely and legally in the UK
* Look at landscape and ecology from a forager’s perspective
* Identify and process wild edibles

Upon successful completion you will get a certificate accredited by Global Learning Gateway
