After much behind the scenes work over the Christmas and New Year period, we are getting ready to open the garden again next Wednesday. We have lots of reasons to be excited here, not least because we have a brand new project coordinator named Anna to work alongside Ben, who is already bringing some strong skills to the role.
2015 is shaping up to be quite the year of (positive!) change at FFPG and, after lots of thought on our part as to how best to organise things, we will be slightly altering our opening times – but don’t panic, they’re very similar to last year!
We have decided that, like last year we will have our two volunteer days a week, Wednesdays and Fridays, but unlike last year, we will have an ‘off-peak season’. Bear with me…
All this means is that from April to September (with exact dates to be confirmed) we will run full volunteer days with a morning and an afternoon session that are the same times as last year, i.e. 11am-1pm and 2pm-4pm. Outside of that period (like next week) we will only run the morning session. And lunch afterwards of course, we’re not that daft.
This makes sense for a number of reasons, firstly because of useful things like daylight and the fact that there are always fewer volunteers attending the garden at the winter end of things anyway, but also because it fits in with our plans this year to offer ecotherapy to volunteers in a more structured way – trust us, we’ve been agonising over this for weeks now…
So! Until April, Forest Farm Peace Garden will be open to volunteers Wednesdays and Fridays from 11am – 1pm with lunch afterwards till 2pm, but no afternoon session!
We look forward to seeing some old faces as well as some new ones this Wednesday (morning!).
