Trustees and working groups

Along with gardeners, we need volunteers who can work on publicity, events, garden planning, finance, and governance. If you are interested in helping out on the behind-the-scenes work that makes the organisation run smoothly, get in touch!
You might be a local person with good organisational skills, who wants to get involved in their community; or you might be a teacher, a community organiser, permaculture gardener, social worker or somebody looking to build up work experience and skills through volunteering. We are also looking for people to join the board of trustees.
What you can get involved in:We are currently looking for people to join the board of trustees.  We are also looking for people who could contribute to work in the following areas:

  • Publicity and Events
  • Garden Planning
  • Finance and fundraising
  • Governance and staffing

Working groups will meet about once a month, and work together between meetings on different aspects of running the organisation. A management committee made of of key working group members will take a broader overview of the project and make the bigger decisions.

We are looking for people who can be proactive and think outside of the box, and who are reliable and responsible. Ideally you will have had some sort of experience in organising or coordinating projects, organisations or campaigns with a vision of community building and ethical living. We will also need some people with specific skills or interests such as fundraising, permaculture design, and event management.
We would like to hear from you which working group(s) you would like to participate in, what activities you feel enthusiastic about and capable of contributing, and what your general availability looks like.Although working group participation is flexible, we would expect:

  • Availability for evening or weekend meetings approximately once a month, but perhaps more often at the beginning of involvement
  • It would be great if you could visit the Garden to see first-hand what the project is like: either when it’s open on a Wednesday or a Friday, or during a weekend Open Day or workshop
  • Members of a working group would need to commit to doing at a minimum one to two hours per week of work either individually or in groups, outside of meetings.

What is the process?

If you think this sounds interesting, please get in touch with us through info@forestfarmpeacegarden.org or 0208 477 1655. Please feel free to ask questions!
